I had been taking a lot of photos ever since I got my first phone, especially when travelling. So capturing scenes and moments, in addition to some very basic editing, has always been something I enjoy. But it wasn't until about two years ago that I bought my first proper camera and really started pursuing this like something more than a small hobby. At the same time I started using Lightroom, and to be honest I became almost obsessed with taking photos and the whole editing process. One thing I like especially about it, is the complete freedom you have over all the process, from taking the photo to the last touch ups. The only real frame I feel I'm bound within is the one that comes with the equipment.
There are many things that make Iceland a particularly special place. Firstly it's a huge country with only 330.000 people. So most of it is just raw and uninhabited nature. Which brings me to the next point, which is how diverse the nature here is. If you travel the whole country you'll see a big difference between the west, south, east and north. And then you enter the highlands you see something entirely different. The Icelandic nature is very raw and one thing I think often gets forgotten is that it can also be completely ruthless. So while Iceland is, in and of itself, a very safe place to travel to, great care should always been taken when messing aroubd with the elements. The weather can change dramatically in a heartbeat.
