Woke up in an icy wonderland. Well, that was a short fall up here in Alaska 🍂❄️ We’re camped higher in the mountains so we can see some auroras - but higher elevations means higher chance of frost. Don’t worry, there’s no snow yet as we drive back downhill. At least we know the van heater is running strong. ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ ▾ #vanadventures #vanlifediaries #vanlifesociety #vanlifeproject #vanlifeculture #vanlifedistrict #vanlifecommunity #vanlifeisawesome #vanlifeexplorers #letsgosomewhere #exploreeverything #thatsvangasmic #travelgoalsmotivation #peoplewhoadventure #vanlifemood #vanlifecamper #vanlifetheory #vanlifeisawesome #tinyliving #campervan #vanlifecouple #vanlifedigitalnomad #vanlifedreams #travelalaska #nomadiclife #nomadiclifestyle #explorefairbanks #morningfrost #winteriscoming

We’re back from Alaska! It was an exciting 9 days on @carnival exploring the Inside Passage. We have so many highlights to share, so let’s start with a calving glacier! We were told it less likely to happen during a cloudy/rainy day but we lucked out just as we stepped onto our balcony and I was able to capture the tail end. . . #travelalaska #alaska #alaskacruise #carnivallegend #choosefun #glacierbaynationalpark #alaskanps #marjerieglacier #findyorpark #travellingfamily #familytravel #traveldeeper #whereintheworld #wanderlust #travelwithkids #mywanderingfamily #myfujifilm #fujifilmxt2 #xt2 #fujifeed

Red eye flights are pretty common for Alaskans. Just a few photos from the Anchorage airport and flight out of there. #LifeBeyondKids #AlaskanLiving I've always enjoyed seeing the wildlife displays and Mr. Moose. This time I popped upstairs to a lounge area (bar was closed) with more Alaskan artifacts displayed. The downside for red eye flying is I get cold. Loved the message on my cup. Ordering coffee or tea is definitely in part to warm my hands. . . #hottea ☕️ #handwarmer #taxidermyart #travelalaska #planepics #redeyeflights #alaskalife #travelusa #iflyalaska #travelusa 🇺🇸 #moose

Alaskan salmon is a rich source of a variety of vitamins and minerals, as well as lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Also known as Chinook, king or sockeye salmon, Alaskan salmon is healthiest when caught in the wild. I’d love to help you plan your trip, so be sure to call me or send me an email when you’re ready to start planning. 910.599.1693 | LuAnn @watercolortravel.com #alaska #visitalaska #thelastfrontier #travelalaska #vacationplanning #traveldestination #alaskansalmon #healthyfood #sockeyesalmon #chinooksalmon #kingsalmon #watercolortravel #alaskancruise

A few shots from our trip to Utqiagvik, the northernmost city in the United States. There are no paved streets due to permafrost and a lot of people were traveling via ATV. Many houses had snow machines, dog sleds and umiaks (skin boats) parked in the drive making for an interesting juxtaposition. The bowhead whale is front and center in the community with skeletal remains everywhere and a life-size display in the Inupiat Heritage Center, which I highly recommend if you get the chance to visit. As we were walking along the street, we were invited to join a blessing service for the whaling crews about to head out. We listened to the elders give advice and tried to sing along to hymns in Inupiak. I would love to spend more time in this fascinating place! #utqiagvik #utqiagvikalaska #topoftheworld #arcticadventures #arctic #alaska #alaska2019 #travelalaska #barrow #barrowalaska #bucketlisttrip ✔️ #bucketlisttrip #bucketlist #bucketlistcheck

. With all this rain lately, we will have waterfalls for days. The reality is we desperately needed such precipitation. Our summers have become significantly hotter and drier. . Traditionally, alaskan firefighters have supported other states in fighting wild fires. Not this season. Fires in Alaska have been much more rampant than the rest of the country. Anchorage and Fairbanks were impacted the hardest. . Also, many many alaskan cities live in isolation. We often rely on hydroelectric power. That is the beauty of living in a alaskan rainforest. When we are in drought, or our transmission lines are disrupted, our only other source of energy is from diesel generators. This is costly and horrible for the environment. . Lastly, heavy precipitation is the reason why I live in the most beautiful part of the world. I am boardered by an ice field with hundreds of glaciers. Just as the bird eats the frog and the frog eats the spider... glaciers feed the salmon and the salmon feed the bears. . Since you read this far, did you notice the earbuds that invaded my photo? Do they belong to you? I seriously had no idea I was photo bombed until this posting.🤣 . The rain pours down from the clouds, and everyone benefits. When you live in Alaska а plane is not a luxury, it's a necessity 🛩️ For some Alaskans living in remote places. This is the scene I was greeted with as I crossed the border into Alaska this year. After 40 hours of driving Weaver and I stretched our legs, cooked up a meal, and watched the sun disappear, there was no second guessing my decision from that moment on.

Day 5,6- Seward The trip to Seward had more incredible views and some of the biggest mountains I've ever seen. The sun finally came out for us and enhanced every detail of the sprawling landscape. . The town of Seward is a charming blast from the past and sits right at the water and in between huge Fjords, where we parked our RV. We took a glacier tour and hit some of the roughest waters and swells I've ever encountered. Despite taking 2 dramamine, I projectile vomited all over my camera. Fun! . Pulling up to the glaciers, you are immediately struck by the enormous size. Also, a feeling almost like you aren't supposed to be there. The sound they make when they crack is so deep and so loud, it feels prehistoric, like a long sleeping beast is trying to escape from the center of the earth. It was terrifying/magnificent. We also saw sea otters! ☺ . The first pic is from a lake that was so clear it looked like a mirror. The reflection of the mountains in the lake was kinda trippy. . . . . . . #alaska #seward #glaciertour #seaotter #mountains #fall #autumninalaska #autumn #husbands #fjords #rvlife #thelastfrontier #travelalaska

Road trippin with the best group of pals. Took a water taxi to an island, saw sea otters and a HUMPBACK WHALE then hiked to a glacier and ice bergs, rock climbed next to a waterfall, hiked the equivalent to 170 flights of steps to a glacier, rode a mechanical bull. Life is good. ⁣ ⁣ 📍Homer Spit, Kachemak Bay State Park, Kenai Fjords National Park.

Day 3/4- Valdez. . The road to Valdez is probably the most spectacular thing I've ever seen in my life. The fall colors were almost neon in their intensity and I was brought to tears many times taking in the majesty of Alaska. Plus, we saw the incredible Denali Mountain. Wow. Again, I'm at a loss for words at how to describe this place, other than to say it feels like the Gods live here. . Valdez was stunning and shrouded in fog, which only made it even more intriguing. We'll definitely be headed back there, so much to see and do. Plus, bunnies everywhere! . Photos absolutely cannot portray the beauty of this land, but that won't stop me from trying ☺ . . . . . #alaska #denali #valdez #highway1 #seward #nationalparks #glacier #fog #bunnies #worthingtonglacier #photographerlife #canonphotography #travelalaska

Day 2 in Denali took us to lakes and rivers, up and over mountains, through bear territory, across bridges (where we had a showdown with a huge lynx), and back. We finished our day with hot dogs, whiskey, and Buffy. Truly a perfect day. . Sidenote, we survived the lynx encounter, but there was a second where it got sketchy. He was not afraid of us. Couldn't get a pic because I was shaking too hard lol 😬 @treybuchet . . . . . . #alaska #denali #denalinationalpark #lynx #rvlife #hikealaska #wildlife #buffy #naturephotography #photographerlife #husbands #travelalaska

Day 1 exploring Denali was nothing short of breathtaking. There aren't enough words to try and explain how expansive this place is. We saw tons of wildlife and incredible mountain peaks on our bus tour, but my favorite part was being in complete silence with my husband as we just stared off into the distance. Cliché as it sounds, that was the top moment for me ☺ @treybuchet . . . . . . . . #alaska #denali #denalinationalpark #moose #tourbus #tundra #husband #fall #autumninalaska #thelastfrontier #travelalaska
